ABOUT

Who we are...

BROTHERSKEEPER is a video production company based out of Humboldt County, California. Motivated by the art of storytelling, Kenneth and James strive to tell authentic and captivating stories. Together, James and Kenny's combined experience spans over a decade of cameras, lights, locations, and clients. The experience we've gathered has culminated in our own production company, BROTHERSKEEPER. We operate to provide businesses with the tools they need to thrive in the modern digital marketing environment, but we hold firm to the traditions of film and commercial productions that came before us. That means story first while using collaboration and style to bring that story to life in a way that translates to you and your brands audience. This is the key take away which we impart to our all our future clients. We love making films, lets do it together.

JAMES HERNANDEZ

Director. Sound and Film editor.

Whitewater Guide, Welder, Construction Superintendent, Mechanic, Filmmaker. James has a storied history of careers that lead him into filmmaking. Although it was at an early age when he declared his intent to make movies, it wasn't until he met Kenneth in 2015 that his pursuit took form. What was formerly a hobby of cutting together edits of his friends on skate or snowboards, became the pursuit he follows today.

As a freelancer, James played one-man-band for motorsports companies, and lifestyle brands while also working as a contractor for productions ranging in size from small crews to large-scale, multi-day shoot teams. Today, he leverages this experience to find solutions in his work and on set that keep the people around him in mind.

Preferring to be in the trenches working with others, you will find James with his hands on the controls throughout production. A student of the process and a self-described film nut, if you have a question, he has an answer, and it will involve every part of said process, so do be careful if you're in a rush.

With a work ethic that embraces dirt and a specialist attitude toward systems, James strives to create work that speaks for itself, and the brands he works with.

KENNETH MITCHELL

Director Of Photography. Colorist.

San Diego-born photographer, Kenneth Mitchell, is a maestro of light and image. Like many Filmmakers before him, he started as a photographer and has developed a keen eye for images and the language they speak through the lens. Kenneth has had the opportunity to shoot commercials, fashion campaigns, and product photography for large and small brands. In recent years he’s dedicated his time to landscape photography and has traveled through the better parts of the United States pursuing this passion.

On set, Kenny is a sharp observer, acting as the eyes for the entire crew. He solidifies frames and sets his fellow team members up for success with a calm focus and a warm attitude that lends itself to everyone involved. Very much the yin to James’ yang, Kenneth smooths out the approach to find the heart of his work. Pulling from his personal experience, he produces honesty and color in everything he does.

A poet with a strong faith, Kenneth stays humble in his pursuits and is known for his dedication to the craft of photography.

“Even though much time has passed, one thing has remained the same. I’m still learning the language of light.” - Kenneth Mitchell
